Pre-Halloween Bunch of Stuff
* Did you know Gawker is mean? [New York magazine, 11 pages]
* I should really retroactively quit, having learned such a terrible fact. Also, my Wonkette co-editor beat me to it. [He moved over to Gawker today]
* People I know have written books, and I've read them.
* One is "McCain: Myth of a Maverick," by Matt Welch. I've already plugged it.
* Another is "The Malice Box," by Martin Langfield. This is a weird thriller that involves a lot of creepy old New York City architecture, secret occult horror groups, and terrible bloodshed.
* I don't know Mike Davis, although I've interviewed him. That's reason enough to mention his "In Praise of Barbarians," a bunch of angry & eloquent essays about the Impending Collapse of the American Empire and why so many people getting destroyed by this particular situation are its biggest cheerleaders.
* Our beloved buddy Jim Lowney got married, to his lovely wife, Jen! Those of us who didn't die on the plane ride home will always fondly remember the day our internal organs gave up after a beautiful wedding. And look at that, the "Corvids" played the first dance.
